Sugar
Most adults and children in the UK consume too much sugar in their diet, often from fizzy drinks, sweets and biscuits. Too many high-sugar foods and drinks can lead to weight gain and tooth decay, as well as an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease.
It is important to cut down on foods containing added sugars. However there are also sugars that occur naturally in food such as fruit and milk. These can be a good source of energy as well as providing other vital nutrients.
