Stay safe and healthy during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
During the summer of 2012, health services in Dorset will continue as normal
This means you will be able to access
• GPs
• Pharmacies
• Minor injury units
• Accident and emergency services
as you would at any other time
However we are advising people living in and around Weymouth and Portland to be prepared. This includes
• ensuring you have adequate medication for self care e.g. paracetomol; and a good first aid kit
• making sure repeat prescriptions are collected in advance
• knowing where to go for appropriate health care
Information for visitors on how to access local health services appropriately will be available through a number of outlets in and around Weymouth and Portland. It is also available from the downloads section of this page via the Stay Safe and Healthy During the Games leaflet.
For the most up to date information on opening times please refer to NHS Choices.

You can visit a pharmacy without an appointment for advice about a minor illness or injury and the medicine you need to treat it. At pharmacies you can buy many medicines and healthcare products, such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, antacids, emergency contraception, plasters, bandages and sunscreen.
