Occupational Therapy (OT)

The OT staff assess patients' rehabilitation potential and helps them regain their independence. This often involves the co-operation of relatives or carers and an assessment of a patient's ability to cope at home after being discharged. The OT staff work closely with other care professionals.

Re-ablement Centre

Staff consist of physiotherapist, occupational therapist and three therapy assistants. If on-going rehabilitation is required following a patient's stay they will be introduced to team members and a follow-up appointment arranged prior to being discharged.

Physiotherapy Department

The physiotherapy staff work on the wards alongside other care professionals. They help patients regain physical independence and mobility, which may include help from relatives and carers. Physiotherapy staff from the reablement team provide therapy to patients in their own homes. This, reduces the need to admit into hospital and supports patients when they are discharged. There is also a separate outpatient department providing a physiotherapy service for the local community.
