Our achievements and performance

The Performance and Information Team monitors and analyses the performance of all NHS providers who hold contracts with us.

The team also monitors how well NHS Dorset is performing against its own national and local indicators.

This information is used as the basis for contract negotiations and discussions both within the organisation and externally with providers.

The team submits national returns to the Department of Health and NHS South West on various indicators such as national Vital Signs and local strategic plans.

Vital Signs are the national indicators set by the Department of Health for each PCT covering a number of areas, including childhood obesity, smoking quitters, hospital-acquired Infection rates and so on to ensure that PCTs achieve and maintain acceptable rates in these areas. These are then reported regularly to the Board members.
