Counter Fraud Service

Each health body is required by law to have its own nominated Local Counter Fraud Specialists (LCFS), Each LCFS has received expert training and is accredited as a counter fraud specialist through the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at Portsmouth University. They are trained to conduct their work in a professional, confidential and ethical manner. The LCFS in Dorset all work for the Dorset and Somerset Counter Fraud Service, an agency of NHS Dorset.

Security Management Service

The Dorset and Somerset Security Management Service endeavours to provide a safe and secure environment for our staff to work in, and our patients to be treated in. We take the security and safety of staff, patients and property very seriously. Any form of violence against NHS staff is totally unacceptable whether this is due to a clinical condition or not. Violence towards staff has a direct impact on staff morale and patient care.

Compliance Service

The Compliance Unit is responsible for identifying patients who have wrongly claimed exemption from NHS charges and, using specific NHS legislation (The Health Act 1999 and the National Health Service (Penalty Charge) Regulations 1999), to recover unpaid health costs.
