Annual reports
The PCT is required to produce an annual report every year. Our most recent annual report for 2008/09 highlights our achievements and how we spent our budget of more than £600 million.
It also outlines our strategic plans for the future to enable us to achieve:
- better health and well-being for all
- better care for all
- better value for all
The report also covers the major events of our year, including a pan-Dorset conference entitled NHS 60: Looking Forward as part of the NHS anniversary celebrations.
The NHS is obliged to consult the public about changes to existing services and proposed new ones and the report describes how we did this during the year.
The annual report contains the Trust’s accounts for the year, which are audited by the Audit Commission.
Clinical governance reports
Clinical governance is how we demonstrate our measured improvements in the quality of the services, treatment and care we provide. It is how we assure quality and identify and manage potential risk of error and omission.
We use clinical governance to continually improve our services. It is a complete performance management tool and now brings together the corporate purpose of each NHS organisation. It supports the alignment of clinical and non-clinical roles to achieve ever-higher standards of safe and reliable care for patients.
